I've been shooting across Toronto, the GTA, Hamilton, and around Southern Ontario for more than 20 years. I've documented elopements and wedding receptions, maternity shots, portraits, toddlers, and everything in between. My work has been presented in both gallery shows as well as keepsakes in clients' homes.  

 For film photography I shoot medium format 6x4.5 on a Mamiya system for rich, detailed portraits. I use mostly Nikons when run-and-gunning elopements and other events, but also use a Yashica point-and-shoot which always looks great.

For digital work I use a Fuji GFX 50R with the beautiful Mitakon 65mm f1.4 for that creamy bokeh and soft subjects. I usually aim for a grainy film look in post-production with my digitals.

 Film is expensive and temperamental, but it's stood the test of time for one reason: it looks great. Deep, rich and "lived in", there's no substitute. 

I edit and scan my frames at home for complete control of the finished product. If you have a specific look you'd like to approximate; warmer, colder, higher contrast, bleach bypass, etc., I can accommodate right from the raw frame stage, rather than from scans with lab choices already baked in.

 I'm a film shooter, and film is my preference. I love the 90's feel of on-camera flash for elopements and other events.

I use mostly natural light for portraits, babies/toddlers, and maternity shots. For maternity sessions, I really prefer to shoot an expectant mother some place familiar; her kitchen, backyard, wherever she spends her life. There's no shortage of photographers eager shoot you in a field gazing into the horizon. I have no interest in that. I'd like to make something authentic.

 Professional elopement photography is an investment and can result in some truly unique keepsakes. There are lots of reasons you might opt for a smaller ceremony but there's no reason to settle for small memories.

 Moody silhouettes are out. Mise-en-scène is in.  Whether you go with me or another photographer, do your maternity shots somewhere familiar to you. No fields. No empty voids. Use your own apartment, kitchen, bathtub, wherever you live your life. Make the images a document of a moment in time. It will have more meaning to you in the future, believe me. All you need for great shots of  your (almost) newborn is a kitchen table and an imagination. 

Alright, alright. I do have a small studio space outside of Brantford, Ontario, and I can also accommodate a maternity shot in Toronto, so if you're looking for those trendy maternity shots, I can make them happen. But trust me, shooting an expectant parent in their own apartment or environs will serve as a much more appropriate and meaningful remembrance of the event than that German Expressionist motif photographers push these days. 

 If you need a professional headshot for LinkedIn or other social media, I can do that digitally with a two day turnaround.

 The very best application for film portraits these days is for older parents. Having beautiful, high quality portraits to give your kids is a great gift today and a cherished object down the road. Take it from me, I take every chance I can to photograph my own parents and the results become more and more meaningful to me every year.
