In 1666, Isaac Newton, aged 23, made revolutionary inventions and discoveries in calculus, motion, optics and gravitation. It was in this year that he was alleged to have observed an apple falling from a tree, and in which he in any case hit upon the law of universal gravitation. Newton was afforded the time to work on his theories due to the closure of Cambridge University by an outbreak of plague.

In 2020 I filmed myself every day. I lifted the idea directly from Caveh Zahedi's In The Bathtub Of The World. He's always trying to make films without subterfuge, or so he alleges, but once I was done filming I realized I hadn't made something honest whatsoever.
Filming and editing are by their nature manipulative. For instance, when featuring yourself in a movie -- even a home movie nobody cares about -- you still get really self-conscious and you don't behave as yourself, and then you edit out all the real human stuff and shape an image of yourself however you'd like to be seen. In my case, that's as a jackass.
Anyway I spent a year doing it which was extremely onerous and now I feel like a failure but there are Some Highlights in the menu up there if for some reason you find yourself interested in my (very) personal exploits.
I guess I should lastly mention that as far as choosing years to document go, 2020 is basically the Cadillac Coupe deVille. I have an incredible instinct for the potential for human misery. Of this there can be no dispute.
